Drawn to the Figuire at La Vida

On Friday evening I went to "Drawn to the Figuire" at La Vida HealthCare {La Vida Gallery} to see the work of Keith Theriot www.keiththeriot.com with my companion Janene. Now many of us have seen Keith's paintings, but how many have seen so much of his drawings in one place?

Just so you know I am a fan of Keith's work! This guy has quite an interesting history, I was mesmerized by this work! Just so you know {artists will allready know this} If you can draw well..you can pretty much do any painting you desire.

I saw Tommy Cannalonga, Josh Garrick, Dilcia Sabio and many other friends at this showing. it was a light turnout, but quality people and sometimes that is better than a big crowd. Keith sold 3 pieces this night! And I would have to say it was a succesfull opening! here is a picture of Keith and I next to a great piece!

I enjoyed myself this evening!

Fredlund Gallery on Wedsday and Third Thursday!

Hello Everyone!

I have been a busy bee lately, so this may be a long blog post, on Wedsday I paid a visit to Fredlund Gallery over on Park Avenue, and chatted with John Fredlund, He is an informative guy, and allways has some wisdom to impart concerning the art business, Fredlund Gallery www.fredlundgallery.com as a general rule doesn't have many openings, only on special occasions, but the artwork in his gallery is top notch and the price points are not low. I saw a piece in there by Bill Mack that I loved, it was a metal sculptural piece of 2 nude women, I don't have a picture to show you yet but I will hopefully tommorow. The price of the piece is $35000! It's a whopper! and worth every penny!


On Thursday I worked at the Gallery at Avalon Island www.galleryatavalonisland.com as I usually do on Third Thursday! Chad and Holly's Showing was GREAT!!!! and Marcos Cruz's work stands out as well. I am aware of 5 of Chad's Pieces that sold and maybe 2 others, Holly sold 1 that I am aware of, as did Marcos! We had one hell of a great crowd! WOW! It's allways good when artists sell work at a showing! Sometimes it Can be really rough trying to sell art. but we just have to keep moving forward.

A little before and some after I was able to see some of the other showings on Third Thursday, before I left for downtown that early afternoon I saw on facebook that Olde Town Brokers over off of Central and Summerlin was doing a Third Thursday opening, so I dropped by, there was the work of 3 artists in there but the only one that stood out to me was an experimental photography piece, I'm sorry I don't recall the name of said artist but the piece was at the top of the stairs, go have a look while it is still up.

Also I had a chance to look in Roho Coffee House, where I saw work by German Lemus, ever since I have known this guy he has been improveing his skills, this guy is versatile! He can do Urban Art, Fine Art, Murals, you name it! Anyway he had a combo on new work and old, His cougar piece on parchment was a stand out piece! look at that one and then the others and you will see the progression! He also had some work at FOI, but I will say more about that in a bit!

When I went into The City Arts Factory, I was allmost about to be late, so I went upstairs to the Loft, and saw the "Art of Noise" basically music oriented artwork. There was a lot of good quality artwork up there, the stand outs had to be by an artist named Picollo! Maybe I will go back and buy one before the showing is over!

After The Gallery at Avalon showing was closed for the night, I just had to go see what the AKA Lounge had, and I was not disappointed, The photography of Catherine Folks is what I loved, this young lady had an assortment of great work in the AKA, I was very tempted {and still am} tempted to buy her Buhhda piece right then and there! But she had other quality pieces as well, very affordable pieces!

Then I made my way to FOI, and guess what? I saw German Lemus's work again and Senor Lemus himself smiling and having a ball! He had a Marley piece in there that was a WOWZER piece! FOI seemed to be the happening place to be, it was maybe 10-11 PM and there was still a great crowd!

I had a great night!!!

Third Thursday is 2 Days Away!!!!!

Third Thursday is only 2 days away, and its allways an exciting evening!! I work over at The Gallery at Avalon Island on Third Thursday, so usually I go to the different venues earlier to see what gems of art may be seen! On Monday me and Jeff hung a great showing at Avalon of Chad Polpeter, Holly Earheart, and Marcos Cruz in the Cafe! You know I own a piece that Chad made and I love it! So you all may see the piece I own...Ta Da!

Anyway I am a Fan of Chad Polpeter artwork, so I am a bit biased! But what is better than owning an artwork that speaks to you??? Anyway back to the subject, Out of the pieces of Chad's work in this current showing, I think I like the Ram piece best! We hung it on the back right wall, so don't miss this piece, it's great! Out of Holly's work I loved the two nudes piece, I'm afraid I don't have the title but this piece tells lots of stories, it's very deep, look closely and you will understand. In the Cafe Marcos Cruz's sculpture is there! Frankly I love it all! But the stand out piece is a freestanding sculpture with some color right in front of the window!

Also on Third Thursday we have Charles Marklin over at Mother Falcon Clothing! This guy has some quality work, and you can take home a T-shirt with his work!! here is the details;

Mother Falcon Clothing will be participating in May 2009's 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop (in association with the Downtown Arts District) and will be premiering the extremely talented artist Charles Marklin.

Mother Falcon takes an unusual twist with its 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop participation where you can not only view Marklin's work, but you can also take home an Art T-shirt with Charles Marklin's original artwork on the shirt!

I know Mother Falcon is a bit farther on the Art Walk, but this one is worth it! and besides who cant afford a t-shirt? This way you CAN own original art, and not break the bank! I intend to buy one myself!

Also I am sure FOI has a great showing! They allways do, I'm just not sure who it is this time! Also don't miss The City Arts Factory or the AKA Lounge, allways great showings!

I came across this recently, and was I suprised! some of a showing by The Arts Hub {Me and Jason Lee} that we had in the AKA Lounge happens to be in this video, as well as the other venues! Thanks a ton Patrick!

Consuelo Bellini's Stained Spaces

Last Night I went to Consuelo Bellini's Stained Spaces over at Senso SupperClub {it used to be Zinc Bar} This was GREAT!!! This woman has introduced a different art presentation than any I have seen in Orlando! Basically she has taken mesh grating{ I'm not sure how to explain so bear with me} and introduced a type of paint and through labor intensive work has created pieces of beauty! I was taken by the colors of a Peacock piece{wish I had a picture to show you} The Peacock was just oozed abject beauty! I also loved the Coy Fish piece, all those dramatic colors WOW! I do have this picture to show you of her work


She is produceing an art form that to my knowledge doesnt exist in Orlando, frankly I am suprised that no art galleries havent picked her up! all the pieces were hanging from the ceiling with good tracklighting, I have to say this really worked! Considering what Consuelo is produceing the prices are reasonable, I hope she can make some sales of this artwork!
also for that evening I met Ward Cotrell again. I had met him once before, but I'm fuzzy on where. Also I finally met Sonja Haltiwanger in person, as well as Charles Marklin{going to try to go see his opening in the Peacock Room next week}
Also it must be mentioned that Consuelo had the assistance of Ashley Hoven to get everything organized,{artists need people with these skills} Overall this was a GREAT OPENING!

Celebrating Citrus Landscape at COMMA gallery

Last Tuesday I went to COMMA gallery for Celebrating Citrus Landscape, I had missed the first two installments and needed to catch up, I saw quite a bit of quality artwork, and generally good quality is a norm for the COMMA, The one that was a standout for me was "Wild Oranges" by Robin Pedero


There was a small crowd that night, but it was a rainey night, It was a nice reception, Generally I exspect high quality from the COMMA, and that is what I allways see when I go there! I allways have admired Karen Carasik and Kim Sumner for their tireless work to have a quality gallery. I look forward to see what is next at COMMA!

Journey To Ireland Opening and Reception

Last Friday Creative Spirit Art Gallery had it opening reception "Journey to Ireland" We had a pack of people, enough food to feed 3 armies, and enough wine for 2 of them, I think we had somewhere around 150-200 people come through that night, I have to give kudos to both the artists Erika Avery and Patricia McNeese, both of them worked very hard to get the word out and to self promote themselves, which allways makes my job easier. Patricia McNeeses's Photograph of a Celtic Cross from southern Ireland still stands out as a Iconic Image in my mind. I co-op part of CSAG also sold some artwork, though the Presenting artists did not, but we still have some time to go........
